Dr. Julie Holloway, head of the Department of Prosthodontics, was elected to the office of treasurer of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP).

She is also immediate and past president of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, has served as editor of the ACP Board Preparation Study Guide, and joins the ACP Spokespersons Network this year.

Dr. Lewis Humbert, Department of Periodontics, received the James H. McLeran Faculty Award.

Dr. Humbert attended the University of Iowa College of Dentistry on an Air Force scholarship and received his DDS in 1975. For the next 29 years, he served in the U.S. Air Force at several bases in Korea, Texas, Arizona, and Nebraska. Dr. Humbert also received his MS and certificate in periodontics in 1985.

During his Air Force career, he gained trauma experience and became assistant base dental surgeon at Osan Air Base in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. At Luke Air Force Base (AFB) in Phoenix, Ariz., Dr. Humbert established the periodontics residency program (sedation and surgical skills).

After being transferred to Offutt AFB in Omaha, Neb., Dr. Humbert taught in the AEGD program. In 1992, he was transferred to Sheppard AFB in Wichita Fall, Texas, where he was chief of the periodontics department, interim hospital commander, and dental squadron commander. From 1999-2004, Dr. Humbert directed the AEGD residency program at Lackland AFB, taught, and was a member of the dental executive committee.

In 2004, as Lewis Humbert was retiring from the Air Force, Dr. Georgia Johnson, head of the Department of Periodontics, had a faculty opening and offered Dr. Lewis the position. Today Dr. Humbert is the program director for the Periodontics department. He encourages the residents to publish and enter national competitions. Since 2006, 90 percent of the periodontic residents have passed the American Board of Periodontology.

Says Dr. Humbert, “It is a very high compliment to receive the McLeran Award. We can teach our students and resident all of the technical skills but I want them to also learn caring, compassion and empathy for the patients they treat so they’ll have the ethics and integrity to do what is right.”

During the 2014 University of Iowa Dental Alumni Association Reunion Dinner on Oct. 31, 2014, Dr. Thomas Schierbrock received the 2014 Dental Alumnus of the Year Award; Dr. Peter Damiano received the 2014 Dental Educator of the Year Award; the Honorable J. Scott Raecker received the 2014 Dental Honorary Recognition Award; and Dr. Ed Schooley received the 2014 Dental Service Recognition of the Year Award.

Dr. Ed Schooley (DDS ’74) received the 2014 Dental Service Recognition of the Year Award for his public service, commitment to the American dental profession and its patients, and alumni involvement with the College of Dentistry.

“The award is a formal acknowledgement that I have used the resources and opportunities available to me in a very useful and meaningful way. I am particularly excited as the award originated from my professional peers,” stated Dr. Schooley.

Dr. Schooley distinguished himself during his professional career in many ways: he served as a dental officer in the U.S. Navy (1974-1976); was an assistant professor at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine where he also served as dental director of the migrant health program. In 1986, Dr. Schooley became director of dental operations (Southeast) of CIGNA Dental, and in 1995 he became CIGNA Dental’s national dental director.

In 1998, Dr. Schooley accepted the national dental directorship for Aetna U.S. Health Care /Prudential HealthCare in Chicago, Illinois, where he was responsible for corporate clinical oversight for the national quality assurance program.

Dr. Schooley’s recent position (before his retirement) was with Delta Dental of Iowa where he served as vice president and dental director. His responsibilities included professional external relations, dental policy, and utilization management activities.

Dr. Schooley’s professional memberships include the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society, the National Health Care Anti-Fraud Association, and the American Association of Dental Consultants. He is an adjunct faculty at the UI College of Dentistry and a former board member of the Free Clinics of Iowa, a volunteer healthcare network, and also the Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation.

The University of Iowa Dental Alumni Association and the College of Dentistry are pleased to honor him with the 2014 Dental Service Recognition Award of the Year.

Dr. Peter Damiano (DDS ’86), director of the Public Policy Center (PPC) and professor with the Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry at the University of Iowa, was honored with the 2014 Dental Educator of the Year Award for his exemplary service to the University, students, and service to the College of Dentistry.

“For those of us who are educators and researchers, it is often very difficult to know when you have made an impact. Being named Educator of the Year by the Dental Alumni Association is therefore particularly meaningful and humbling as it is a recognition that this group of colleagues has valued my teaching and research. It is very much appreciated,” stated Dr. Damiano.

Dr. Damiano has made innumerable contributions to dental education and health policy research. He started the health policy research program at the PPC in 1990, and has been director of the Center since July 2007.

As the PPC director, Dr. Damiano has added environmental policy, housing and land use, and social science to the existing research programs at the Center. Under his leadership, the center has become the highest funded University of Iowa research center with about $28 million in support from research grants and contracts in 2014-15.

Dr. Damiano considers student education and research among top priorities for the PPC: for example, 55 University of Iowa students were funded on PPC research in 2013.

Dr. Damiano has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, research monographs and has been the principal investigator on over 50 research studies funded by federal, state, and Foundation sources. He is a former staff intern in the US Senate, a Robert Wood Johnson Dental Health Services Research Scholar and HRSA Primary Care Policy Fellow. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry (DDS) and UCLA School of Public Health (MPH).

Dr. Damiano has been honored for his dedication and service to the University of Iowa and to the state. In 2005, he received the American College of Dentists Award. The Iowa Dental Association gave him the 2007 Outstanding Service Award; and in 2008, Dr. Damiano received the 2008 Regents Award for Faculty Excellence.

The University of Iowa Dental Alumni Association and the College of Dentistry are also pleased to honor Dr. Damiano’s dedication to dentistry and public policy with the 2014 Dental Educator of the Year Award.

Dr. Kim A. Brogden, director of Dows Institute for Dental Research and professor of Periodontics with the College of Dentistry, was among almost 30 individuals honored at the University of Iowa’s annual Faculty and Staff Awards Banquet Tuesday, Oct. 7, sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the Vice President for Human Resources. Dr. Brogden received the Board of Regents Award for Faculty Excellence. The award, given by the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, in cooperation with the Faculty Senate, honors faculty members who have made significant contributions to excellence in public education across the domains of teaching, research, and service.

Dr. Brogden’s research, which focuses on peptides in saliva and their role in oral inflammation and immune response, has drawn acclaim from collaborators and peers around the world and has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Since 2012 he has served as director of the Dows Institute for Dental Research, and he is highly regarded as an effective administrator. He led the planning for a recent renovation of the College of Dentistry’s research laboratories, which has greatly improved the utility and flexibility of those spaces.

Dr. Brogden teaches a range of pre- and post-doctoral microbiology courses, and his guidance as a mentor has resulted in many students winning awards locally and nationally. He has twice received the College of Dentistry Mentor of the Year award, and in 2012 he received the American Academy of Periodontology’s Educator Award in recognition of outstanding teaching and mentoring.

In welcome remarks, UI President Sally Mason said that during her travels around the state, across the country, and even around the world, she has heard many stories of how a professor or a staff member at the UI changed someone’s life.

“I have heard how an idea in the mind of a young student going to classes on our campus turned into a brilliant career, how gratefulness for how our health care and health sciences have saved someone’s life, and I have heard appreciation for how the university has helped a small business thrive,” Mason said. “Tonight is the night we celebrate how we are able to inspire ideas, save lives, improve our state, and make the world a better place.” 

The 2014 Iowa Mission of Mercy (IMOM), sponsored by the Iowa Dental Association, was held September 26-27 at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center in Waterloo, Iowa. There were 170 College of Dentistry faculty, staff, students and residents who volunteered their time, along with many other dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants from across the state. Cleanings extractions, fillings, and tooth replacements were performed for more than 1,100 dental patients. In all, more than $760,000 in treatment was provided.

Dr. Patty Meredith, Department of Operative Dentistry, said, "Our patients are truly appreciative and we could not have done it without each and every one of you! I'm so proud of our College of Dentistry family."

Dr. Fabricio Teixeira, D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D., head of the Department of Endodontics with the College of Dentistry at the University of Iowa, has been appointed as the Richard E. Walton Professor of Endodontics. The appointment is effective for five years.

The Walton Professorship was established from a grassroots fundraising effort—mostly alumni of the Endodontics Program—to honor Professor Richard Walton. Professor Walton, a beloved and internationally renowned faculty member, whose textbook of Endodontics has been widely used in the world, mentored a number of endodontic practitioners and educators.

Dean Johnsen stated, “Professor Teixeira is first and foremost a formidable scholar. I am confident he will use the resources to advance the scholarship and the professional development of the Endodontics Department and the specialty. I am equally confident that the many supporters of the Walton Professorship will be proud of the results the Professorship will bring to the College.”

Professor Teixeira a tenured full professor with the College of Dentistry who has over 70 publications on the basic and clinical aspects of endodontics in top dental journals, has written book chapters, and has served on numerous PhD and masters theses committees.

“The Walton Professorship intends to support scholarship and education. Therefore, our leading purpose will be to support all members of the department on their education, professional development and research that will benefit the College and our specialty nationally,” said Dr. Teixeira.

Dr. Teixeira is a diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and holds a position as endodontic consultant of the American Dental Association for the Commission on Dental Accreditation. He is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Mu Nu Chapter at the UTHSCSA. Dr. Teixeira is associate editor of Endodontic Topics and Visual Endodontics. He is actively involved in clinical research and has lectured nationally and internationally. 

A new $302,000 grant entitled “Secondary Analyses of Adolescent Caries, Including Fluoride, Diet, and Other Factors” has been awarded by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) to the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. The two-year award will support detailed secondary data analyses of patterns of dental caries incidence from age 13 to 17 years among children in the Iowa Fluoride Study; support will also include complex analyses of the longitudinal predictors of dental caries incidence that include demographic factors, previous caries experience, fluoride intake and exposures, and dietary intakes and patterns.

The principal investigator is Dr. Steven Levy, Wright-Bush-Shreves Endowed Professor of Research, Preventive and Community Dentistry, and professor, epidemiology, College of Public Health. Co-investigators include Drs. John Warren, and Teresa Marshall, Preventive and Community Dentistry, and Dr. Joseph Cavanaugh, Department of Biostatistics, College of Public Health.

The Iowa Fluoride Study cohort has been followed and studied since their birth through recruitment of the mothers in 1992-95; the young adults are now aged 19-22. Several previous NIDCR grants have supported this unique longitudinal study. The age 17 dental examinations and related questionnaire data collection recently were supported by grants from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust and Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation, without whose support this NIDCR grant award would not have been possible. 

Dr. Ghadeer Thalji, Department of Prosthodontics, has received an eighteen-month, $63,986 grant from the Osteology Foundation. Her research project is "Comparative Assessment of Alternative Macrophage Differentiation in an Early Osseointegration Model in Health Non-Obese Patients vs. Obese Type II Diabetics."

The project's goal will be to evaluate the effects of obese individuals on the modulation of gene transcription related to acquisition of M2 properties in implant adherent cells in an oral implant integration model compared with non-obese, non-diabetic individuals. She also hopes to gain preliminary insight into the osteoinductive nature of adjacent osteoprogenitor cells that may be influenced by the phenotype of the neighboring monocytes.

Co-investigators include Dr. Clark Stanford, Dows and Prosthodontics, and Dr. Lyndon Cooper, University of North Carolina.

Dr. Azeez Butali, Dows Research and Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine, has been selected to participate in the Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He was one of 10 chosen scholars out of 74 applicants nationwide.

As an Amos Scholar, Dr. Butali will receive an annual stipend up to $75,000 over four years, complemented by a $30,000 annual grant toward his research support.  He will spend at least 70% of his time conducting research with a senior faculty member located at an academic medical center or dental school noted for the training of young faculty and will pursue lines of investigation in his field of interest. His research project, which will be conducted at the UI College of Dentistry, will be “A Genome-wide Association Study for Non-syndromic Clefts in sub-Saharan African Population.” Ms. Tamara Busch, a research assistant in the College of Medicine, will be working with Dr. Azeez.

Dr. Butali's scholarship will begin following completion of the required paperwork.

Dr. David Gratton, associate professor with the Department of Prosthodontics, was named a Fellow at the prestigious Academy of Prosthodontics annual meeting that took place took place in Bern, Switzerland, May 13 – 17, 2014.

Members of the Academy are known as Fellows. Categories of Fellowship include Honorary, Life, Active, and Associate. Fellowship is by invitation and is limited to a number of Active and Associate Fellows as determined by the membership; currently the total membership of all Fellows is 130. The membership is broad-based, representing areas of prosthodontic research, education and clinical practice.

Dr. Gratton had previously been invited to Geneva, Switzerland, to present “Intra-oral Scanning” at the International Team for Implantology (ITI) World Symposium. Dr. Gratton, who is an ITI Fellow, participated in a panel discussion at the close of the opening session, which focused on digital implant dentistry.

The ITI welcomed more than 4,200 participants from 84 countries to its global flagship event, the ITI World Symposium. Held under the heading “Knowledge is Key,” the meeting took place in Geneva, Switzerland, April 24 - 26, 2014.

The Iowa Dental Foundation (IDF) board of directors approved scholarships to ten students during its May board meeting. Kaitlin Hoogeveen and Courtney Mann, third-year students at the College of Dentistry, each were awarded $5,000 scholarships.

Dr. Chris Barwacz, assistant professor with the Craniofacial Clinical Research Center, is the research mentor for both students. Dr. Barwacz serves as secretary at a University District Dental Society Meeting, where he learned about the scholarship opportunities. Dr. Barwacz encouraged Kaitlin and Courtney to apply.

The application process required submission of students’ CVs, personal statements and letters of reference.

“I was humbled and honored to receive the scholarship. It was a surprise, and I am very grateful to the Iowa Dental Foundation for the award,” said Kaitlin.

Courtney stated: “I am very grateful for the opportunities this scholarship will provide. I appreciate my faculty who wrote letters of recommendation for me and the IDF for their generosity.”

IDF scholarships are available for students wishing to pursue higher education in the field of dentistry. Dental assistants, dental hygienists, dental technicians, and third-year dental students are eligible to apply.

Scholarship applications are due in the IDF offices no later than March 31 of the calendar year. Application are reviewed at the IDF's board meeting the first week of May each year. Scholarship recipients are notified in mid-May.

Congratulations, Kaitlin and Courtney!

Dr. John S. Casko, professor emeritus at the UI College of Dentistry, was awarded the Albert H. Ketcham Memorial Award, the highest honor given by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), on April 27, 2014, at the Excellence in Orthodontics Awards Ceremony, held in New Orleans, La.

The award, created in 1936 to commemorate the achievements of Dr. Albert H. Ketcham, is given annually to an individual who has made a notable contribution to the science and art of orthodontics.

Dr. Casko, a past president of the ABO, is Professor Emeritus and the B.F. and Helen E. Dewel Endowed Chair in Clinical Orthodontics Emeritus at the UI College of Dentistry.

Dr. Casko joined the faculty at the University of Iowa in 1976. He served as head of the Department of Orthodontics from 1976 to 2002. In 2000, he was named the B.F. and Helen E. Dewel Endowed Chair in Clinical Orthodontics, the first endowed chair at the UI College of Dentistry. He retired from the University of Iowa in 2013.

“The ABO is very pleased to recognize Dr. Casko with this prestigious award,” said Dr. Marvin Kastrop, the 2013-14 president of the ABO. “Dr. Casko has contributed greatly to the specialty of orthodontics. …He has said that his greatest satisfaction is seeing how successful his residents have become and how much they contribute back to dentistry and the specialty of orthodontics. In addition, his sphere of influence extends beyond the University of Iowa. Many orthodontists from all over the world have benefited from his life’s work.”

Dr. Casko received both his D.D.S. and M.S. in orthodontics from Georgetown University in 1964 and 1968, respectively. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971. He has been an ABO Diplomate since 1981 and recertified in 1999.

Dr. Casko is a member and past president of the Angle Midwest Component of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists. He is a fellow of the American College of Dentists and editor of Practical Reviews in Orthodontics.

During his career in orthodontic education, Dr. Casko gave more than 200 orthodontic presentations nationally and internationally, taught more than 230 orthodontic residents and received numerous awards. In 2009, the Southern Association of Orthodontists presented him with the Orthodontic Legend Award in recognition of his extraordinary achievements in orthodontic education through teaching, research and publishing.

“This is the highest award I can get as an orthodontist, and it is very special to me …because it symbolizes the recognition of my peers,” Dr. Casko said. “This award is a wonderful complement to the Louise Ada Jarabak Memorial International Orthodontic Teachers and Research Award that I received in 2008.

To be included on the list of past recipients of the Ketcham Award is incredibly humbling. This list also brings to mind friends and colleagues who received this award, but are no longer with us. So many wonderful people have received this award; I am grateful to be included among them.” 

Dr. Carol Fischer, postdoctoral research fellow with the Dows Institute for Dental Research at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, has been selected as the 2014 Oklahoma Division of Student Assistance programs’ TRiO achiever awardee.

During her undergraduate education, Dr. Fischer participated in the McNair Scholars Program, part of a group of federally funded programs collectively known as “TRiO.” The McNair program seeks out first generation undergraduate students, interested in education beyond a bachelor’s degree, to cultivate, encourage, and assist them to attain graduate school status. Participating students become involved in research projects, special classes, seminars, and conferences and are assigned an additional mentor to help them.

As the awardee, Dr. Fischer will present at both state and regional conferences and will serve as the state representative of the TRiO program.

Dr. Fischer acknowledges that although she was aware that the McNair program had followed her accomplishments through graduate school, she was quite surprised when she heard the program was nominating her for this award. She states, “I didn’t even know it existed – and I was very excited to receive this notification!”

The Daily Iowan article features the growing use of technology and how the College of Dentistry is keeping up with the trend.

A new article published in the latest issue of the American Dental Education Association’s (ADEA) scholarly publication, the Journal of Dental Education (JDE), illustrates the need for dental schools to become actively involved in recruiting students to practice dentistry in underserved areas. The article provides an example for how to implement such a program.

“Every state school has the responsibility to work to assure a dental workforce for their state,” said David C. Johnsen, D.D.S., M.S., Dean of The University of Iowa College of Dentistry & Dental Clinics (UI COD).

The JDE article, “Retaining New Dentists in Iowa: A Role for Dental Schools in Facilitating Graduates’ Connections to Practice Opportunities in Underserved Areas,” shows how UI COD addressed the concomitant problems of having an aging dental workforce and a high percentage of counties designated as Dental Health Professional Shortage Areas (DHPSAs) in the state of Iowa. The article was written by Debra A. Hoyle, B.S.W.; Penni M. Ryan, B.L.S., C.P.P.; Jed S. Hand, D.D.S., M.H.S.A.; Peter Damiano, D.D.S., M.P.H.; and Galen B. Schneider, D.D.S., Ph.D.

In June 2006, the college, along with grant support from Delta Dental of Iowa, created the Office of Iowa Practice Opportunities (OIPO) to promote dental practice opportunities throughout the state. The office and its advisory committee developed and defined a list of six objectives to improve dentistry in Iowa: (1) develop and maintain a web-accessible database of dental practice opportunities, (2) coordinate a student-mentor program, (3) develop a network of partners to assist in identifying and working with communities seeking a dentist, (4) sponsor presentations to dental students highlighting the advantages of practice in Iowa and providing information on available resources, (5) travel to predominantly rural Iowa communities to help those communities recruit dentists and (6) facilitate communications between students and those offering practice opportunities.

Since the establishment of the OIPO, the number of dentists under the age of 40 in Iowa has increased 77%. These dentists now compose 29% of Iowa’s dental workforce. The number of counties designated as DHPSAs also has decreased from 79 to 68. As of June 30, 2012, the OIPO had coordinated 141 placements for practices in 63 Iowa communities, and 70 of these placements were in rural communities. Moreover, an average of 25 students, in the typically 75-student graduating class, go on to pursue practice opportunities in the state following graduation.

The success of Iowa’s program prompted several other schools to consult with the college to develop their own programs. The authors believe that the OIPO could be used as a model for other statewide dental organizations.

“We see this as an opportunity for our college to add value to our state and university as well,” said Dr. Johnsen. “This program has become a key component in our efforts to recruit students from all over Iowa and to make it attractive to serve Iowa’s citizens.”

Dr. Satheesh Elangovan, Department of Periodontics, has received a one-year Academy of Osseointegration grant for $14,500. The grant will be used for his research project, "An in vitro Assessment of a Tissue Engineering Titanium Surface for Enhanced Peri-Implant Healing."

Dr. Veerasathpurush Allareddy, Department of Orthodontics; Dr. Liu Hong, Department of Prosthodontics; and Dr. Aliasger Salem, College of Pharmacy, will be co-investigators on the grant. Dr. Georgia Johnson, head of the Department of Periodontics, and Clark Stanford, associate dean for research, will be consultants.

Dr. Richard Walton, faculty emeritus, Department of Endodontics, is a co-author on a fifth edition of Endodontics: Principles and Practice.

Drs. Mahmoud Torabinejad, Loma Linda University, and Ashraf Fouad, University of Maryland, are the other two co-authors. The text will be released in April.

Several UI Department of Endodontics faculty and former UI graduate students wrote chapters for the book, which includes a video with the book's purchase.

The text will be used throughout the UI dental students' curriculum.

Dr. Lily Garcia, associate dean for education, is the new chair of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Board of Directors. She assumed the position during the recent 2014 ADEA annual meeting, which was held in San Antonio, TX. Dr. Garcia's responsibilities as chair will be to facilitate the goals of ADEA and serve as presiding officer of the ADEA House of Delegates.

Dr. Veeratrishul Allareddy, Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine, has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the Digital Imaging and Communications (DICOM) Standards Committee. Among his responsibilities, Dr. Allareddy has been involved with the extensive revamping and correction of standards related to dental radiology. As a part of the revamping, the DICOM Standards Committee has produced a Correction Package CP 375, which has been recently approved to be included as a part of the DICOM Standard.

Dr. Azeez Butali, Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine, and Dows, has received a three-year grant from the U.S. Deparment of Health & Human Services, National Institutes of Health. The first year's amount is $224,000.

The goal of his project, "Genetic Studies of Nonsyndromic Clefts in Populations of African Descent," is to understand the complex genetic etiology of orofacial clefts (OFC) by determining the genetic variations that contribute to OFC in homogenous African populations and relate these findings to prevention and clinical management of the disease. The study will also focus on genome-wide association studies (common variant association studies (CVAS) and rare variant association studies (RVAS) of non-syndromic clefts using homogenous samples from Africa.

Dr. Ghadeer Thalji, Department of Prosthodontics, has received a one-year, $48,000 International Team for Implantology (ITI) Foundation Grant.

Dr. Thalji will conduct a cross-sectional observational study, where she will place two SLAactive Standard Plus Straumann implants (4.1x6 mm) in edentulous sites of 12 systematicallly healthy, non-obese human subjects and 12 obese type 2 diabetics. One implant will subsequently be removed after 3 and 7 days. Total RNA will be isolated from cells adherent to retrieved implants. Expression of M2 markers and key osteoblastic transcription factors (RUNX2 and OSX) will be analyzed by real-time quantitative PCR method.

Co-investigators include Dr. Clark Stanford, Department of Prosthodontics and Dows, and Dr. Deborah Dawson, director of the Biostatistics Unit.

Drs. Julie Holloway, head of the Department of Prosthodontics, and Anne Williamson, Department of Endodontics, have been selected to participate in the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Leadership Institute.

The one-year program helps individuals from U.S. dental institutions develop skills in decision making, priority setting, and conflict resolution; expand their administrative skills; become an advocate of national policy making; and further develop their career plans.

Thomas Crary (D2) has been selected to receive a $2,500 American Dental Association Foundation (ADAF) Predoctoral Dental Student Scholarship for the 2013-2014 academic year. The goal of the ADAF dental student scholarship program is to facilitate the education of academically gifted dental students.
