College fo Dentistry HIPAA Manual: The University of Iowa College of Dentistry (COD) is committed to patient privacy. The COD recognizes that the dentist-patient relationship is vital to the successful treatment outcomes and oral health of our patients. With these guidelines, we affirm our commitment to patient privacy in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and the Health Information Technology Act and other applicable state and federal laws.

Acceptable Use of Information Technology:  To ensure a highly robust, continuously available, fair, and effective environment that serves the University's computing needs, institutional and external standards for acceptable use must be applied. Each individual user must therefore comply with institutional and external standards for acceptable use of these shared resources.

Administrator Rights:  This policy applies to the College of Dentistry's policy on administrator accounts on College of Dentistry computers.

Apple Computer Support Policy:  This policy applies to the College of Dentistry’s support of Apple computer products.

Backup Policy:  This policy applies to the College of Dentistry’s policy on backup of network storage space and PHI.
