Our clinics are designed to provide comprehensive and referral dental services for infants, children, adolescents and persons with special health care needs. Treatment may be recommended by one of the following providers: students, residents, or faculty. Excellent dentistry will be provided with all three options.
Pre-doctoral students (dental students): Dental students begin seeing pediatric dental patients in their third year of dental school. Treatment is provided in the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic on the second level of the Dental Science Building. [Map to Dental Science Building] Extra time is allowed for treatment and the treatment is carefully supervised by faculty. Your contribution to our educational program results in a reduced fee. To schedule an appointment, call (319) 335-7485.
Residents: Pediatric dentistry residents have graduated from dental school and are receiving advanced training in pediatric dentistry. You may be referred to the resident clinics from within the College of Dentistry due to case complexity or by your own dental provider for reduced specialty fees. The University of Iowa offers graduate programs in 9 of the ADA-recognized specialty areas. To schedule an appointment, call (319)335-7485.
Faculty Private Practice: Our faculty pediatric dentists see patients in their private practices at the Center for Disabilities and Development (building adjacent to the College of Dentistry). [Map to Center for Disabilities & Development] Fees and time commitment are comparable to private dental offices. All dental specialties are available for consultation and special treatment needs. This allows for convenient and easily coordinated referrals. To schedule an appointment, call (319) 353-6711.
