Objective: 

A dental implant research study to compare two different implant abutment designs, micro grooved or machined, in order to determine if these texture differences have any impact on the healing of your jaw bone and gums after implant surgery.

Recruitment Information: 

If you are currently missing a single tooth on your upper or lower jaw you may be eligible to receive a dental implant and the corresponding prosthetic parts at reduced cost.  You must meet the eligibility criteria below:

  1. Be 18 years old or older
  2. Have good oral health
  3. Require a replacement of a single, tooth-bound molar or premolar in the upper and lower jaw
  4. Have stable natural teeth directly adjacent and opposing the site of interest
  5. Be a non-smoker with no current  alcohol or drug abuse
  6. Not have uncontrolled diabetes or any other significant chronic condition
  7. Not currently taking corticosteroids or bisphosphonates
  8. Not currently pregnant or wish to become pregnant in the next year
