ADA Chewing Gum Study
The purpose of this research study is to determine if there is any difference in salivary flow rates and plaque pH changes as a result of chewing three different sugar free chewing gums. Subjects will use the three test chewing gums at approximately the same time each day.
The University of Iowa College of Dentistry researchers invite volunteers to participate in a 2 to 3 month study evaluating the effects of different sugar free chewing gums on salivary flow rates. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, have no braces/ dentures or “Dry Mouth”, be able to fast from 1 to 6 hours before a maximum of 6 morning visits and not be allergic to sugar free products. Please call the Craniofacial Clinical Research Program for information at (319) 335-6763.
