Student Organizations

Many students at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry choose to participate in academic clubs. These clubs exist to help students gain experience and build connections with professors, students, and other dental professionals.

Iowa American Student Dental Association (IASDA) is Iowa's branch of the American Student Dental Association. ASDA was established to connect, support and advance the needs of students pursuing a career in the field of dentistry. IASDA simultaneously serves as the student government at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and represents students while working with the administration and the university. IASDA hosts student-body wide events and sponsors student trips to leadership conferences.

American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Student Chapter (AAPD)  seeks to raise community awareness and help bring solutions to a rising health crisis in Iowa: dental disease among children. The AAPD provides free oral health screenings to children of all ages, performs educational skits and demonstrations, and distributes toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other dental supplies.

American Association of Public Health Dentistry (AAPHD) works to promote awareness of current dental public health issues amongst dental professionals and the community. AADPH also provides the opportunity to travel to St. Luke's in Cedar Rapids to observe a public health dental setting as well as a school sealant program.

American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD) is a club focused on getting connected to other women pursuing dentistry and learning about the experiences women have practicing dentistry in multiple disciplines.

Christian Dental Association (CDA) provides dental students with a place of support and fellowship. The CDA is non-denominational and welcomes all students.

Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity is one of 33 Delta Sigma Delta chapter across the U.S. and provides opportunities for study group support, social events, and community service programs.

Hispanic Student Dental Association provides an opportunity for all students to practice their Spanish skills and also offers Spanish classes that emphasize dental vocabulary.

Tau Sigma Military Club is a valuable resourse for dental students who currently receive military scholarships and also those who plan to. This club helps students network with current and former military dentists, gain information about military careers and life, and provide outreach and support to local veterans.
