ADA Chewing Gum Study

Objective: 

The purpose of this research study is to determine if there is any difference in salivary flow rates and plaque pH changes as a result of chewing three different sugar free chewing gums.  Subjects will use the three test chewing gums at approximately the same time each day.

Recruitment Information: 

The University of Iowa College of Dentistry researchers invite volunteers to participate in a 2 to 3 month study evaluating the effects of different sugar free chewing gums on salivary flow rates.  Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, have no braces/ dentures or “Dry Mouth”, be able to fast from 1 to 6 hours before a maximum of 6 morning visits and not be allergic to sugar free products.   Please call the Craniofacial Clinical Research Program for information at (319) 335-6763.
