Student Research Spring Meeting 2019

The Student Research Spring Meeting was held on May 20. Current student researchers nominated Student Research Mentors for Mentor of the Year awards. All student researchers voted on the nominations, and recipients of the award receive a plaque, and their name is added to a plaque in the Iowa Institute for Oral Health Research. Two mentors tied for the award in 2019: Dr. Dr. Satheesh Elangovan and Dr. Kecia Leary.

Senior Research Achievement Awards are determined based on a portfolio of research that is circulated to a group of 38 electors. The electors select award recipients based on the scientific merit of projects, the significance and productivity of projects, the number of years of involvement in research, the originality of the research, and the student's professional conduct. Award recipients were selected in 2019: Leah Barshinger, Joshua Colvin, Ashley Daniels, Noah Hollinger, Blake Louscher, Grant McCaulley, Elise Montesens, Beth Pfohl, Amanda Phan, Amanda Piche, and Ryan Rucker.

Dr. Teresa Marshall, director of the Student Research Group, expressed her "thanks to Kate Bruner for coordinating everything."
