Pre-Doctoral Program: Student Awards 2011

The Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry held their Awards Luncheon on June 1, 2011 in the Oral B Classroom. The following students received awards.

Gratz and Warren
Kirstina Gratz received the W. Philip Phair Preventive Dentistry Award which was presented to her by Dr. John Warren. The award is presented to students who show exceptional interest and leadership toward the improvement of health and the well-being of society through a commitment to preventive dentistry.
Cosper and Cowen
Lindsey Cosper received the Samuel Johnston Student Fellowship Award presented by Dr. Howard Cowen.  The award is presented to a student with outstanding care and skill and the desire to continue training in Geriatric and Special Care.

 

White, Lill and Cowen
Treagan White and Krista Lilland received Special Recognition Awards for Excellence in Dentistry presented by Dr. Howard Cowen.
Gratz and McQuistan
Kirstina Gratz was recognized for receiving 2nd Place in the Procter & Gamble Poster Competition at the Local AADR Research Day.  Her mentor was Dr. Michelle McQuistan.
Guenther and Warren
Hillary Guenther was recognized for receiving 5th Place in the Procter & Gamble Poster Competition at the Local AADR Research Day.  Her mentor was Dr. John Warren.
Popowski and McQuistan
Monica Popowski was recognized for receiving 2nd Place in the ADA Pre-doctoral Poster/Table Clinic Competition at the Local AADR Research Day.  Her mentor was Dr. Michelle McQuistan.
Hendricks and Marshall
Julie Hendricks was recognized for receiving the 2011 Best Student Abstract Award from the Nutrition Research Group of the International/American Associations for Dental Research (IADR/AADR) for her poster presentation at the 89th General Session & Exhibition of the IADR meeting, which was held in San Diego, CA.  Her mentor was Dr. Teresa Marshall.

 


Not pictured:

  • Julie Reynolds received the American Association of Public Health Dentistry award presented by Dr. John Warren. The award is presented to students who show interest and achievement in Community Dentistry and Dental Public Health.
  • Kristi Ouderkirk Bock received the Excellence in Dentistry for the Elderly Award presented by Dr. Howard Cowen. The award is presented to students who show exceptional clinical proficiency and understanding of complex oral health needs of the frail elderly and medically complex adults.
  • Allison Fuller received a Special Recognition Award for Excellence in Dentistry presented by Dr. Howard Cowen.
  • Jeremy Goodson received the Joel B. Huth Scholarship Award presented by Dr. Howard Cowen. The award is presented to students who demonstrate interest in serving the special care population.
  • Brian Anderson received the June McCarney Student Award presented by Dr. Howard Cowen. The award is presented to students who show leadership skills and compassion for those with special needs.
  • Katherine Motz was recognized for her Procter & Gamble Pre-doctoral Poster Competition Third Place Award. Her mentor was Dr. Teresa Marshall.
